Vintage Tea Cups Love Affair

I think I enjoy photograph my vintage tea cups and plates collection very much. It seems like every now and then I love taking them out and just enjoy looking at them.  I rarely buy them anymore due to the price is getting higher; so I treasure these pretty dainty feminine tea cups for my own personal collection and enjoyment.

I started collecting and buying vintage china after I had an aorta repair surgeries. I was hospitalized for 2 months and went under 3 major open heart surgeries to repair the sudden erupted aorta in 2004. Recovery took a very long time. While staying at home I shopped on Ebay and bought many of vintage plates, serving platters and tea cups.

I bought quite a few  of them that occasionally I would serve  dinner out of my vintage  dinner plates, salad, desert, serving platters that I collected enough for 10 people family party.  Of course they are all do not match but I somehow attracted to a 'blue band' one. So at least they are all in blue color. And I think they are quite pretty when displaying them all together on the dining table. Now I could not find them as easy as finding them back then. So I stopped adding my collection. I can only suspect they are getting rare and hard to come by. Well, I am glad that I have collected a few.

I served high tea to an old friend of mine who came to New York from Italy a few months a go. {Last seen here} She is also a vintage tea cups  lover. So it was so much fun having her because we shared our love about vintage china and tea cups together.

For sure I will be having more high tea party in the future.

Can you see that I changed each object in the back ground ?  I am experimenting taking picture with depth of field lens and I love what this lens does.

Happy Labor Day Everyone & thank you for stopping by !

Vintage Plates & Macaron Display

I have been admiring these vintage plates since many years ago. It was started out from my first time visit to the US. I think it was in 1983. During each trip, I used to stop when driving through a small town at  a rural area of the US; bought a view plates and wrapped the plates in my clothing and placed them in the suitcase so I can take them home.

These plates are my very reason purchases during our last trip to Delray, Florida. I love the soft beautiful colors and flowers printed on the plates in the middle or on the side. It is very feminine, soft and elegance.

I also developed the love of photography. And with my new Nikon D3100 my husband 'Steven' gave me last Christmas; I am now learning on how to be creative  when taking pictures with this wonderful camera.  Although I am still learning; I am very happy with the simple "Auto" mode result from this camera. I am planning to learn more on how to use the camera  'manually' so I can be artistic with the result. Right now I am reading this wonderful book "Plate to Pixel - Digital Food Photography & Styling" by Helene Dujardin (available here).  After reading it a few pages I already love the content of the book very much!
Here are the pictures of those lovely plates, a tea cup and the macarons I made recently.

I hope you like the pictures and the story above ! Thank you for reading......

Love,
Ellya
