Timeless Beauty of Vintage Sparkle.....

I have always been a huge fan of vintage jewelry. It is mainly because I loved wearing costume or fashion jewelries back in 1980s and 1990s and I still have quite varieties of them that I still keep and wear them now and then. I love them because there is something quite unique and elegant wearing vintage jewelries. Since those jewelries are quite large and chunky during 1990s I like to wear them with simple outfit with less pattern or solid color. They are lovely to wear during winter time with sweater or simple dress. This is true because back then goldtone material  used quite extensively and fashion jewelries were quite large.  And now gold is making a come back. In my humble opinion it is better to wear just necklace or just earrings or even a bangle or bracelet alone if they quite large in size.

I can never get enough of them. Although I am wearing less and less jewelry I still adore one nice huge vintage sparkle on me when go to a special occasion or to a Saturday evening dinner. So, what do you think! What type of jewelry do you like to wear; let's say when you want to jazz up your look to go out for a fun evening.

I love what these elegance ladies are wearing. A simple pencil skirt paired with fitted sweater. A vintage statement bib necklace will complete this elegant look. It is age appropriate for anyone whom from the age of 20s to 60s.

Soup That Warm Your Heart During Cold Night....

I never really like soup until winter time comes, and this is one of my favorite soup during fall/winter time. To me the taste like across of banana and sweet potato. And I like it ! It is rich, creamy and sweet but not overly sweet. Do you know that pumpkin is in the Squash family ? Please read this !

I have been wanting to make this soup since last week. So I finally made it for the first time tonight. It is delicious and very easy to make.

Recipee
For the soup :
- 3 to 4 pounds butternut squash, peeled
 and seeded
- 2 yellow onion
- 2 McIntosh apples, peeled and cored
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 to 4 cups chicken stock, preferably
- homemade
- 1/2 teaspoon curry powder

Condiments :
- Scallions, white and green parts, trimmed and sliced diagonally
- Flaked sweetened coconut, lightly toasted
- Roasted salted cashews, toasted and chopped
- Diced banana

Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 deg. F. Cut the butternut squash, onions and apples in 1 inch cubes. Place them on a sheet pan and toss with the olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Divide the squash mixture between 2 sheet pans and spread it in a single layer. Roast for 35 to 45 minutes, until very tender.

Meanwhile, heat the chicken stock to a simmer. When the vegetables are done, put them through a food mill fitted with the medium blade. (Alternatively, you can place the roasted vegetables in batches in a food processor fitted with the steel blade. Add some of the chicken stock and coarsely puree.) When all the vegetables are processed, place them in a large pot and add enough chicken stock to make a thick soup. Add the curry powder, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Taste for seasonings to be sure there's enough salt and pepper to bring the curry flavor. Reheat and serve hot with condiments either on the side or on top of each serving.

Recipee from Ina Garten

I did not have the soup with the condiments as per above recipee but I had it with crackers. And I added a swirl of heavy cream and garnished with basil leaves. The aroma of the basil leaves incorporated into the soup made the soup taste even better with a hint of basil.

Good night,

Intaglio Art in our Florida home.

I have posted some of my intaglios in the past; here.

When we were spending time in Florida a few days ago; I managed to put some of my Intaglio Arts in Steven's computer room up on the wall. Steven had requested these arts to be put in his office a while ago.

I have created these arts by myself from choosing the background from a paper craft art, the aqua corrugated paper from the inside of a perfume box and attaching the intaglio/plaster onto these papers.(seen here)

I have tried to create different background to put the intaglios on; sometimes I paint a water color paper with flat color (seen here)and other time I used an antique letter {bought from Ebay} for the background.  The only things that I did not make and has to be ordered are the matte and the frame.  The two navy blue framed was spray painted with Rasteloum Navy Blue color and originally bought in Homegoods. The spray paint is from Home Depot.

Steven is happy with these arts above his computer desk.

Please check out these art in my Etsy Store
Thank you,
Ellya

Yellow Bowl

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone !

This year I have a lot to be grateful and thankful for. First; I am happy that I am healthy after an intensive surgery of aorta dissection and hospitalized for 2 months in 2004.

Before I met Steven and was living alone in NYC I used to dream about getting married again to a lovely man from New York and live happily with him in a small house with a small garden where I can paint in the garden during summer time. Well, this dream is about to be coming true because last year we bought our small home in Delray Florida to get away from the cold winter weather here in New York. And now we are selling our condo in New York and planning to buy a house. I can't wait for this to happen because my studio is getting smaller and smaller.

About 5 months ago I created my blog to document all of my art creativities. And the most I am proud about is that I created my blog by myself with the support of my husband. Although this blog is not like what I want just yet; I believe it will be perfect as I am learning to get my way around it to perfect the blog.

As winter is getting close we, as usual go to Florida quite often. Last night we just came back from spending a week there and today we are going to Steven's family {Steven is my wonderful husband} to celebrate Thanks giving. As usual while in Delray Florida I went to my favourite thrift store and found these yellow bowls of 6 for USD 15.00. I love the yellow color and the white and blue stripe foot of the bowl. Here are some pictures that I took.
